Hi friend!
Thanks so much for checking out my little space here online and any interest you may have in any of the classes, workshops or creative camps I’m offering! I’d love to share a little bit about my creative background before we get crafty together!
I have loved art and crafting my entire life. I grew up with an artist mom who was always (and still is always) creating beautiful and unique things. Upon finishing high school, I began to explore careers in creative fields and landed upon graphic design.
I went to art school and got my bachelor’s degree in Multimedia, Graphic & Web Design. During college, I worked designing fun products for brands like Barbie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Tech Deck Skateboards. Once graduated, I did design for a medical company and then became a partner at a creative agency in San Diego. After 4 years as a partner, I moved back to Orange County and took a job as Senior Designer at Entrepreneur Magazine, where I worked for 7 years up until I had my son Jett in 2012. I loved my job, but after becoming a mom, I couldn’t stand being away so much of the day, so I left Entrepreneur and became my own boss. Mom by day, designer by night. I’ve been doing graphic and web design on my own ever since.
In 2016, I wanted masculine little accessories for Jett but nobody was making them, and so out of that hole in the market, my kids’ brand was born. Now I make handmade leather cuff bracelets and belts as well as hand-stamped metal jewelry and screen printed graphic apparel for kids, in addition to design work. Punk Rock Kids has been an amazing project because it has allowed me to get off the computer and back to making things with my hands, which brings me so much joy. Splitting my time between creating for print and web, and creating things we can touch and feel has sparked the perfect creative balance for me.
All of the creating I have been blessed to do over the years has inspired me to teach and lately I am having a great time passing on the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years as a designer and running a small handmade business.
At the end of the day, I believe we are creative beings. That God- the ultimate Creator, created us in His image, to create! It’s an honor for me to be able to pass on some of the skills I’ve learned along the way so that others can explore being creative too, hopefully tapping into their God-given creativity so that they are able to experience the deep satisfaction that comes from taking an idea and bringing it to life.
